Tracey Johnston is a ceramist whose inspiration is attributed to the landscape of the Ulster coastline. This coastline tells a fascinating story of years of exposure to change both through nature and human interaction. The artist makes vessels that seek to connect us with our natural surroundings in the area of discovery, survival and function.
The artist wants not only to replicate the beauty of our landscape and coastlines, but also incapsulate the emotions and reasons we have for living in, walking on and retreating to it. Working with stoneware, throwing, casting and hand building, using oxides to colour with the added dimension of glazing and multiple firings,
Tracey’s work is unpredictable and organic just like the landscape she is influenced by.

4 × 1 hour, One to one throwing lesson in Tracey’s Studio within the beautiful surroundings of WWT Castle Espie. Gift Card is available for giving as a gift.
£120 charge is for a 4 sessions of tuition. This includes throwing on the potters wheel, turning your leather hard pieces and adding handles and or embellishments and finally applying glaze. (This means that you get to experience the full process)
The payment includes all your tuition but to purchase your creations there will be an additional cost of £10 per item which is payable at the Castle Espie shop. A choice of glaze colours will be on display.
Should 2 people want to take the course together then each person should purchase their own place and let Tracey know when booking. This would mean that 2 people would get 4 × 2 hour sessions in the studio. (good fun to do with a friend or couple)
